Ellen Margrethe Sorensen O'Brien, passed away September 11, 1998 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was 98.

Ellen was born February 13, 1900 in Randers, Denmark, to Rasmus Krogh Sorensen and Trine Nikoline Poulsen. She joined the LDS Church when she was 12 and immigrated to America at 14. She married Michael Cleaborne O'Brien in 1922; they had three children.Ellen worked for more than 40 years as a genealogical specialist for the LDS Church, translated many original Danish genealogy documents, served three successful missions and was a temple worker for more than 20 years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Ellen Jensen, of San Clemente, CA; and Elsa Jensen, of Sandy, UT; 14 grandchildren and scores of great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Anton Poulson and Adolph Sorensen; sister, Nettie Hall; son, Russell Cleaborne O'Brien; granddaughter, Janis Dameworth; and great-granddaughter, Michelle Roberts.

Private graveside service was held at Salt Lake City Cemetery on Monday.

The family would like to extend warm thanks to the staff at Sandy Convalescent for loving care of their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
