A 100,000-square-foot expansion of the LDS Institute of Religion at Utah Valley State College was completed in time to welcome a record number of students attending the county's only public higher education school.
Classrooms, offices, two cultural centers, two chapels, a parking garage, two libraries, a lounge area, a gymnasium and work rooms for faculty and students were added to the existing 47,000-square-foot structure.New plumbing, mechanical and electrical and sound systems are managed by a state-of-the-art computerized system. The building was also built to current seismic standards.
More than 7,500 of the 13,000 students at UVSC are expected to take religion classes in the building, paid for by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ogden-based R&O Construction built the new addition.
