After reading the Deseret News Focus section for the past few weeks, it is apparent that it now borders on being a right-wing tabloid.
Read some of the "In our opinion" columns and the large amount of right wing letters to the editor. When I started taking the Deseret News in 1956, it was a local-issues paper without favoring one group or another. Today, it seems to have gone to the right. The Deseret News, in promoting all the "hate" editorials, is doing what President Gordon B. Hinckley questioned during the April 1998 general conference when he said he "didn't understand all the hate in the world."
