Officials from the world's top industrialized nations meeting Monday to discuss Russia's economic crisis said they would insist on continuing economic reforms as a condition for aid.

"While we stand ready to give whatever aid we can, the ball is firmly in Russia's court," a British Foreign Office spokesman said before the London meeting began. He spoke on customary condition of anonymity.Top treasury officials and diplomats from the United States, Canada, Japan, Britain, France, Germany and Italy were attending the Group of Seven meeting.

EU countries already make huge contributions to the Russian economy through the International Monetary Fund and other international organizations.
