Eric Craig Patten, 31, died September 9, 1998, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Eric was born June 6, 1967, in San Jose, California, to John and Anne Hawkes Patten. Eric was a valiant man with wisdom far beyond his years, and was so loved by his family and friends. He was challenged with severe, chronic health problems but his tenacious, courageous, patient, and loving spirit always conquered. His influence for good was felt by all who associated with him. His last 10 years in the Salt Lake City area had brought him great joy as he gave service and had many enriching experiences. He had a deep affection for those who cared for his medical needs and the doctors in turn felt the same for him. He was an ordained LDS temple worker and also had deep and abiding love for the men with whom he served in various Bishoprics and they for him.He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Utah in 1996. He was presently serving as President of East Mill Creek Chapter of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. He served as Co-President of his condominium association and was known as one who was so fair and caring for each individual. Everyone loved his infectious sense of humor.
Eric is survived by his parents of Mesa, Arizona; brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Michele of Tipton, Missouri; and Jeffrey and Janeen of Layton, Utah; nieces and nephews, Kristin, John, Dallas, Matthew, Tyler, Shane, Brandon, Melissa, Connor and Jenna Patten; and innumerable friends and extended family members. Eric was preceded in death by brothers, Stephen and Brian.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 14, 1998, at the Eagle Gate 7th Ward Chapel, 135 A Street, at 5 p.m. Friends may call from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. prior to the services at the chapel. Interment will be at the Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, Idaho, on Tuesday, September 15, 1998. Friends may meet with the family at the Eagle LDS Chapel on State Street, Eagle, Idaho, at 2 p.m. prior to interment.
