William LeRoy Ewell, 77, died Sept. 10, 1998 in Woods Cross, Utah.

He was born Jan. 10, 1921 in Santaquin, Utah to Franklin Marion and Grace Erma Dodds Ewell. He married his sweetheart, Donna, in the Salt Lake Temple on Oct. 1, 1941. He was a descendent of pioneers and was taught at an early age to be honest and hardworking. He took great pride in his country and instilled this patriotic spirit in his children. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and taught his family love and respect for the gospel. He served faithfully in many callings in the LDS Church. He had a lifelong love of words and spent many hours reading. He blessed his family with his love for words through his poetry. He took pride in his garden and loved to care for it, spending much of his retirement tending to it. He especially loved to try new and exotic breeds of vegetables. He was very generous with its bounty. He loved the outdoors and was an avid rockhound. He had a heart of gold.He is survived by his wife, Donna; 10 children, Steve (Margie), Evelyn (Wayne), Andrea (Warren), Donetta (Roy), Dallin (Janet), Rachelle (Dwight), Laura (Earl), Curtis (Karlan), Michael (Frances), Jane (Kerry); three sisters, Alta, Elaine, and Lila; 41 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Frank, and two grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998 at the Woods Cross 10th Ward, 1355 W. 1500 So., at 11 a.m. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary and at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
