On Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the public is invited aboard the Heber Valley Railroad for an excursion to raise funds to help restore the historic Tate barn in Wasatch County.
Advance reservations are required for this ride. Ticket prices are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 3-12. A $50 family ticket for two adults and two children is also available.Leaving from the Heber Valley Railroad terminal grounds, located at 450 S. 600 West, the Tate barn train ride will travel across the farmlands of the valley to the north end of Deer Creek Reservoir, stopping at the Tate barn.
In addition to the train ride, Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, has been invited to speak. Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, has also been invited to attend.
Bluegrass music will be provided by Fire On The Mountain, and a light lunch will be served. A local personality will give a historic perspective of the Tate barn, which was used as a dairy farm for decades. Drawings for prizes will be offered on the return trip to Heber City.
