A man who told the custodian he had an appointment with an LDS bishop attempted to drill his way into the bishop's office Thursday.

A janitor opened the outside door of the LDS Church building at 450 S. 100 West about 3 p.m. for a man in his mid-20s wearing a maroon shirt and black backpack, said Orem Police Lt. Bob Conner. The man said he had an appointment with a bishop in the building.

However, when the custodian checked back she found him attempting to drill the lock on the bishop's office door. As she approached, he fled the building.

Conner said the man apparently picked up tools left by some construction workers who were doing some repairs in the building.
