U.S. Ski Team members Kristi Terzian of Salt Lake City and David Broule of Iron Mountain, Mich., captured the grand slalom competition Saturday at Timberline on Mount Hood.
The competition sponsored by the U.S. Ski Association was part of the 51st Golden Rose Ski Classic, one of several events held to kick off the 17-day Portland Rose Festival.Terzian, 21, had two runs with a combined time of 2:08.66 to win, while fellow Ski Team member Edith Thys finished second in 2:08.91. Amy Farrens of Bend came in third among the women. The representative of Mount Bachelor's Skyline Ski Club had a time of 2:09.75.
Brule, 19, had a two-run combined time of 2 minutes, 5.18 seconds to win the men's competition, followed by two other U.S. Ski Team members, Jeff McVey in 2:06.59 and Jeff Olson in 2:06.84.
