Commuters beware: The northbound I-15 offramp at 600 South will close Sunday evening.

Wasatch Constructors, the I-15 reconstruction contractor, will shut down the ramp for the next year sometime between 5 p.m. and midnight Sunday, Wasatch spokesman Brian Mauldwin said Friday.Wasatch, due to contractual obligations with the Utah Department of Transportation, must first reopen the northbound I-15 offramp at 600 North before closing the off-ramp at 600 South. Mauldwin said the reopening and closure likely would take place within minutes of each other.

Commuters headed into Salt Lake City Monday can use the 900 South, 1300 South or 600 North offramps to exit northbound I-15.

The 600 North onramp to northbound I-15 is now scheduled to open Sept. 20. At the same time, the 500 South onramp to northbound I-15 will close.

Also, UDOT will close the westbound side of U-201, from 900 West to 1300 West, for 12 hours this weekend.

The closure will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday and end at 9 a.m. Sunday. Crews will perform routine maintenance on the freeway.

The inside eastbound lane may also be closed, but at least one eastbound lane will be open at all times, UDOT officials said.

Alternate routes include California Avenue and 1700 South.
