Actor Rip Torn and director Arthur Penn will help open this year's Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville.

Torn, who studied drama at the University of Virginia, played Artie the producer on "The Larry Sanders Show" and was Zed the supervisor in the movie "Men in Black." Penn directed "Bonnie and Clyde" and "Little Big Man" and is president of the Actors Studio in New York.The festival's opening gala Oct. 29 will be followed by the screening of Penn's 1959 "Mickey One," starring Warren Beatty, and a discussion moderated by film critic Roger Ebert.
