Carol Beth Canning Alley, age 76, died September 9, 1998 in Bountiful, Utah.

She was born November 5, 1921 in Midvale, Utah to Charles A. Canning and Anna C. Magnusson. She married Russell I. Alley in the Hawaiian LDS Temple on September 23, 1944. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1940 and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving missions with her husband to the Philippines, the Swiss and Salt Lake Temples. She lived and traveled world wide, experiencing an elephant round-up in Thailand, a typhoon in the Philippines, pastries in France, and archeology ruins in South America. She loved teaching children who always flocked around her for stories and activities. Even the daughter of the King of Thailand ask her to demonstrate her methods to the teachers of her land. She was happiest when she was giving to others. She organized cub scout dens around the world and spent numerous hours in Family History research. Above all she was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and children who always came first in her life.She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Russell Irwin Alley; brother, Glen Canning; seven children, Karen (Donald) Sims, Sondra (Richard) Rosine, Marilyn (Keith) Sedgwick, Russell (Judy) Alley, Pierre (Sarah) Alley, Charles (Pam) Alley, John S. (CoriDawn) Alley; 32 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Preceded in death by her sister Dona; and two brothers, Harold and Milan.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 14, 1998, at 12 noon at the Eagle Gate Stake Center, 135 North "A" Street, Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends may attend a viewing at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State St., Midvale, Sunday 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the stake center from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
