Mothers could not pick up their children and teachers had to hold their students in class extra minutes after a power line fell on a car parked at Valley View Elementary School on Wed-nes-day.

Pleasant Grove police and fire crews were called to the scene just before 3 p.m., just prior to school being dismissed, to deal with a live power line draped across a van occupied by a woman and two children.Dispatchers were told that the line was sparking and posed a danger to the car's occupants and to any children who might be exiting the school.

The woman and the children were trapped inside the van until personnel from Utah Power could respond and disconnect the line from a nearby power pole.

Pleasant Grove police officer Kelly Liddiard said the occupants in the car left the vehicle safely after approximately 45 minutes. No one was injured.
