A Salt Lake man was found beaten, bound with duct tape and robbed in his home Tuesday afternoon.

The 2:35 p.m. discovery of the robbery victim happened after his wife was stopped for speeding by a Salt Lake City officer. She told the officer she thought her husband had a medical emergency and was rushing to get home. The officer accompanied her to the residence at 975 W. 400 South, where they found the front door kicked in and the husband semi-conscious.

The children in the home were found safe, police said.

Police said the man reported calling his wife at work because he was ill and afterward hearing the door crash. Two men wearing masks and armed with guns entered, demanding money. He told the assailants he had none and told officers he doesn't remember anything after that.
