Vanita Mary Chugg Coombs, 78, died Tuesday, September 8, 1998 at the Bear River Valley Care Center in Tremonton.

She was born December 26, 1919, in Farr West, Utah, the daughter of Moroni and Ida Taylor Chugg. She attended Weber High School in Ogden. She married Lyle Henry King, September 23, 1937. They divorced in June of 1941. She married Virgil Milton Coombs, June 11, 1948 in Pocatello, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on July 1, 1960.She was a member of the Hampton Ford Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary, as a Relief Society work director, and especially enjoyed being a Junior Sunday School Coordinator. Music was always an important part of her life. Her hobbies included crocheting and artex painting. She won several blue ribbons for her entries in the Box Elder County Fair.

She is survived by a son, Karl M. (Barbara) King, Fielding, Utah; daughters, Karol (Byran) Lufkin, Kent, Washington; Janet Coombs, Collinston, Utah; Sallie (Gary) Grigg, Moses Lake, Washington; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; a sister, Peggy (LeRoy) Summers, presently serving a mission in Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Bruce L. King; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 12, 1998, 11 a.m. at the Hampton Ford LDS Ward Chapel, 4375 West 15600 No., Fielding, with Bishop Roger Stringham, officiating. Friends may call Friday, September 11th from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home and Saturday, September 12th from 9:15-10:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment in the Fielding Cemetery.
