A series of free programs to help people learn to do computer searches on the World Wide Web have been planned by the Salt Lake City Public Library.
All programs are on Wednesdays at the Main Library, 209 E. 500 South. Each begins at 7 p.m. and will feature hands-on training in searching for a specific topic. Registration is required for each class. Call the nonfiction department, 524-8200, to register. Here's the schedule:Sept. 16, "Searching the Web." Learn to use search engines such as Alta Vista, Lycos and Yahoo.
Oct. 14, "Investments on the Web." Take advantage of the investment and financial resources available on the World Wide Web.
Jan. 27, "Travel Resources on the Web." Make your vacation and travel plans with the help of the Web.
Feb. 24, "Job and Housing Hunting on the Web." Find a new job or relocate through the Web.
March 24, "Health and Medical Information on the Web." Find answers to medical and health questions.
April 28, a repeat of the Sept. 16 program.
