Donas Ray Ward passed away Friday, September 4, 1998, in Ogden.

He was born May 2, 1910, in Willard to Levi and Caroline Ann Wood Ward. On Aug. 30, 1930, he married Verlie E. Bott. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on July 17, 1946. Don was a member of the Mt. Lewis 5th ward. He worked as a security guard during World War II at Defense Depot Ogden. He worked for, and retired from, Swifts and the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroad. He owned his own farm and was a sheep rancher for many years.He loved his family and was proud of them. His grandchildren will miss his sharp wit and caring way with them. He had a great love for the outdoors and the mountains where he loved to hike and hunt. He also loved horses.

Don is survived by his wife, Verlie E. Bott Ward, Ogden; four sons, General Brien Dale (Bonnie) Ward, retired, Bellevue, Washington, R. Ray (JoAnn) Ward, Pleasant View, James N. (Dalene) Ward, Bountiful, Lloyd R (Sandra) Ward Bountiful; Daughter Julie Ward (Steven) Facer, Bountiful; niece Phyllis Glines (Golden) Sill, Layton; 27 grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Duane LaMar Ward; grandson Briton Jonathan Ward; daughter-in-law Edris Larsen Ward; two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 8th at 11 a.m. in the Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd. Bishop Gary Smith officiating. Friends my call at the mortuary Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Interment in the Willard Cemetery.
