Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, William "Bill" Porter Petty, age 74, was called home to his Heavenly Father on September 4, 1998, in Salt Lake City.

Born February 8, 1924, in Obine County, Tennessee, son of Joe William and Mamie Christine Waller Petty. Married Dorothy Dee Bowden April 1, 1943; later divorced. Married Marjorie Worthen July 2, 1954, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served in the US Army during World War II. He was an active high priest in the LDS church and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He served as Sunday school superintendant for nine years, then as stake missionary, and other various callings within the church. Bill loved to play the guitar and he shared this talent with many. He was a friend and father to everybody.Survived by his wife, Marjorie; two sons and five daughters, Dorothy Chamberlain, Ohio; William P. (Sally) Jr., South Weber; Sheila Pettypool, Sunset; William Douglas (Linda), Kearns; Jana Lee (Terry) Wahler, Malad, Idaho; Julie Ann Petty, Kearns; Susan (Tod) Packer, Kearns; 32 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by grandson Justin Andrus, parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12 noon, Kearns 3rd Ward, 4731 South 4300 West. Friends may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Wednesday at the church from 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park
