A giant world map is on its way to a school near you.

The National Geographic Society has distributed the 4-foot-by-6-foot maps to every public and private school in the nation, totaling more than 100,000.The distribution marks the 10th anniversary of the Society's Education Foundation, whose funds aim to improve students' geographic knowledge.

"In the closing decade of this century entire countries have come or gone, boundaries have shifted and place names have changed," said Society President John Fahey.
