President Gordon B. Hinckley will travel to Los Angeles this week to appear on CNN's "Larry King Live." The interview airs Tuesday at 7 p.m. on CNN.

It marks the first time a president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been interviewed by King. The show airs live, and people from around the world can call and ask questions of guests. In April 1996, President Hinckley was in the national spotlight when he was interviewed by Mike Wallace for the CBS news magazine "60 Minutes." In addition to interviewing businessman Bill Marriott, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Steve Young about the church leader, Wallace questioned President Hinckley about the church's perceptions of eternal families, morality and missionary work.

Deirdre Kline, publicist for King, said President Hinck-ley will discuss his life, the future of the church and his views on the nation's morality.

Church spokesman Don LeFevre said President Hinckley would not make other appearances on that trip.
