Plaques commemorating the first pioneers to blaze a trail through Weber Canyon and ford the Weber River will be placed and dedicated at the junction of I-80 and I-84 in Summit County.

Contained on the two historical markers are tales of the Mormon pioneer company that came through the canyon in 1847 with Brigham Young.The dedication ceremony, sponsored jointly by the Henefer Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Centerville chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers, will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5.

The first marker will be dedicated a half mile north of Echo. The second will be dedicated a half mile south of Henefer. The event is open to the public. For more information, contact J. Alden Richins at 292-6446.
