There's already one offspring, a grown man, but another, an adult woman, is on the way. Officials of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently completed drafting standards for Hybrid II Female, the feds' first made-to-order female crash dummy.
This lovely lady, says the Wall Street Journal, is 5 feet tall, weighs 108 pounds, contains 80 electronic sensors and will cost about $100,000.She is bald (because hair would complicate measurements of head impact) and mainly free of curves. Her skin is shiny and plastic, and her clothing, according to federal standards, looks like pink long underwear.
