Chris Latham's solo homer in the eighth inning snapped a 2-2 tie, and a suicide squeeze in the ninth provided an insurance run as Salt Lake beat Albuquerque 4-2 Wednesday night in the Pacific Coast League.

The win moved the Buzz to within one game of Fresno in the Southern Division of the PCL with six games left in the regular season.Dan Perkins (5-0) pitched a complete game for Salt Lake, scattering seven hits and striking out five. Of the two runs he allowed, one was unearned.

Knuckleball pitcher Paul Morse (0-1) allowed only one hit in the first seven innings he worked for the Dukes. He and reliever J.J. Pearsall, who came on in the ninth, combined to yield only five hits.

The Buzz struck first, staking Perkins to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning when Morse hit a batter and walked another before Scott Stahoviak stroked a two-run double.

The Dukes came back with a run in the bottom of the first when Eric Stuckenschneider singled and went to the third on an error. He scored on a ground out by J.P. Roberge.

Albuquerque tied the game in the fourth on singles by Scott Richardson and David Steed and a ground out by Casey Snow.
