A wonderful husband, father and grandfather-A Grandpa that soared above what anyone could imagine-a Grandpa could be, passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 1998.

He was born March 4, 1934 in Salt Lake City to Melvin and Genevieve (Haslam) Monthey.Married Marilyn Davis in Evanston, Wyoming January 30, 1952. Later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

Melvin was involved in sales in the Salt Lake area for years. He was a loving, caring person who had a deep commitment to his family. He loved to hunt and fish with his son and grandsons. He also loved boating and Lake Powell, as well as building and flying radio controlled model aircraft.

Survived by his wife, Marilyn; parents; son, Tom (Chris) Monthey; daughters, Debbie (Danny) Lyon; Julie A. (Paul) Lapetina; seven grandchildren; and brothers, Larry and Bobby Monthey.

Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South (Bengal Blvd.). Funeral service will be Saturday 11 a.m. with a one hour prior viewing at Mountain View Memorial Estates.
