Wasatch Constructors has delayed the scheduled opening of the new I-15 offramp at 600 North by one week.

That means the northbound I-15 offramp at 600 South, which cannot close until the 600 North ramp opens, will stay open for another week.Originally, the I-15 reconstruction contractor planned to open the northbound offramp at 600 North this Friday and close the northbound offramp at 600 South on Saturday. That meant commuters heading into Salt Lake City from the south after Labor Day would have to use the 900 South offramp, the 600 North offramp or the 1300 South offramp to reach downtown.

That transition still will occur, but not until Sept. 11 at the earliest, said Wasatch spokesman Brian Mauldwin.
