The brutal Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife, the fur-loving Elena, were executed by unfriendly citizens in 1989, but the palaces and villas in which they lived still have that special glow. Come next spring, the government of Romania will offer tourists the chance to stay chez Ceausescu for $3,000 to $4,000 a night.

Sojourns will include the opportunity to sleep in a bed once occupied by Mr. Big and his Mrs. and to engage in such frolics as hunting or swimming in their mosaic-lined pool.- Leah Garchik
