The Utah Department of Health hopes for public comment on renewal of its $1.8 million federal Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant.
A public hearing will be held Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in 101 Cannon Health Building, 288 N. 1460 West.The grant is used to provide preventive health services, including cardiovascular health promotion, injury prevention and skin cancer early detection.
It also funds tobacco risk reduction, rape prevention and crisis centers, behavioral risk factor surveillance, environmental health epidemiology studies, emergency medical services, public health data, HIV/AIDS counseling and the Governor's Council on Health and Fitness.
Copies of the grant proposal are available at the department and at the local association of government offices.
