John David Reid, beloved husband, father and grandfather, returned to our Heavenly-Father August 30, 1998, from an extended illness.

He was born July 8, 1921, in Albion, Idaho to Elijah and Mary Weiss Reid. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for valor during service. He married Delma Fern Carver on July 16, 1947. They moved to Tooele in 1949, and he was employed at Tooele Army Depot for 32 years. He loved being with his family while enjoying hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, camping and traveling in his motor home.He is survived by his wife, Delma Fern; daughters, Carolyn (Jim) Lemmon, of Tooele; Delma (Orson) Judd, of St. David, Arizona; Mary (Marcus) Durfee, of Tooele; sons, John Jr. (Linda) Reid, of Tooele; George (Nancy) Reid, of Layton, Utah; James (Dena) Reid, of West Jordan, Utah; Bob (Debbie) Reid, of Rigby, Idaho; and Brian (Puri) Reid, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; brothers, William H. Reid, of Tooele, and Chester Sader Reid, of Las Vegas, Nevada; 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Steven and Gary Lynn. Family and friends may call at Tate Mortuary on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at 10 a.m. Graveside service will be held in the Tooele City Cemetery on Thursday at 11 a.m.
