Leland LeRay DeLange

"One in a Million"Our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Leland LeRay DeLange, died at his home in West Valley City of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease on August 29, 1998.

He was born in Orem on November 8, 1934, the son of Orrel and Arvilla Denison DeLange. Married Toye JoAnne Lewis on August 27, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lee attended Spencer Grade School, Lincoln Jr. and Sr. High School and graduated from BYU in Electrical Engineering. He retired in 1997 after 39 years employment at L-3 (formerly Sperry/Univac). He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many leadership capacities including scouting, YM, Sunday School, Bishopric, High Counsel, Bishop Granger 23rd Ward, 1975-80, and Granger 29th Ward, 1986-89. At the time of his death, he was ward mission leader in the 23rd Ward. Lee was active in the community helping in the incorporation effort of West Valley City, later serving with much pride for 17 years as a City Councilman from District #1. The great love of his life was spending time with his family in any and all activities.

Survived by his wife and children: LeAnne (Tim) Adams, Lewis (Marianne) DeLange, Kathleen (Brian) Sorensen, Kyle (Gina) DeLange; 15 grandchildren; brothers: Gordon (Phyllis), Lyle (Joan), Clark (Nola); sisters: Lyla Vincent and Joyce Ellis.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12 noon, at the Granger Stake Center, 2850 West 3835 South, West Valley City. Friends may call Tuesday evening, 5-8 p.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to services. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park
