Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man believed to be a serial bank robber.

The man robbed a branch of Washington Mutual Bank at 3215 S. Valley St. (3300 East) at 3:03 p.m. Wednesday, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Potter said.Police believe he matches the description of a suspect in at least three other robberies in the county over the past year.

He is described as a white male, about 40 years old. He was last seen wearing an orange polo shirt, khaki pants, sunglasses and a baseball cap. He left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

During the robbery, the man carried a handgun that he laid on the counter, keeping his finger on the trigger as he talked to the clerk, Potter said.
