Dan Reichert pitched six shutout innings in his first Class AAA appearance as Omaha defeated Salt Lake 5-0 Thursday night in Pacific Coast League baseball.

Reichert, Kansas City's first round pick (seventh overall) in the 1997 draft, gave up just two hits and no walks while facing one of the PCL's hottest teams. The right-hander struck out seven, including all three hitters he faced in the second inning, and faced just 19 batters - one over the minimum.Tim Byrdak pitched three innings of two-hit relief and earned his first save.

Jeremy Giambi's two-run single in the third inning scored the game's first runs and Omaha added two more in the sixth on an infield single by Steve Sisco and an RBI double by Kit Pellow.

Omaha (75-57) outhit the Buzz 10-4 and won its third straight game. Salt Lake (73-59) had its two-game winning streak end.
