Ora Freckleton Griffiths passed away peacefully in her sleep, Monday, August 24, 1998 in Provo.
Ora was born April 8, 1910 in Eureka, Utah to William P. and Louisa Frisby Freckleton. She spent her childhood in Eureka; Grant, Idaho; Moore, Idaho; and Cornish, Utah. Her teen years were spent in McCormick, Utah. She attended high school in Delta, Utah. During her teen years she met James Rex Griffiths. They were married May 11, 1927 in the Manti LDS Temple.They are the parents of five children, Don Keith (Mignon Sheriff) Griffiths, Floyd Leor (Joan Lee) Griffiths, Fay (Leon) Rowley, Marie (Buehl) Struthers, and James Rex (Shauna Watts) Griffiths, Jr. They are also the proud grandparents of 24 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Ora was preceded in death by her husband, Rex, who died July 1, 1988; and her son, Don, who died Sept. 15, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, LeRoy Freckleton and Ellis Freckleton, and two sisters, Jennie Rowley and Jessie King. She is survived by one sister, Thelma Holbrook of Bountiful, Utah.
Ora was an active member of the LDS church. Her favorite calling was ward music director. She was also a ward and stake chorister for many years. She and her husband, Rex, served a mission for the LDS Church in Tonga and Samoa, from November 1978 to May 1980. She was involved as a Red Cross volunteer during World War II and served in the PTA for several years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29 at 2 p.m. in the Berg Mortuary Chapel, 185 East Center St., Provo, Utah. A viewing will begin at 12 p.m. prior to the services at the same location. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Hills, Provo, Utah.
