Viola R. Gardner, 86, passed away August 26, 1998, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born June 4, 1912 to Oriel Joseph and Lodema Johnson Richins. She married Alma J. Gardner June 7, 1941 in Salt Lake City; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was active in the LDS Church serving in the Cub Scouts, Primary, Jr. Sunday School, Relief Society-Homemaking leader. Volunteered at the Senior Citizen's Neighborhood Center. She worked as a seamstress.Survived by husband, Alma, of Salt Lake City; children, Geri Fugate, of California; Louise Brown, of Murray; JoAnne Peterson, of California; Linda Riding, of Italy; Joe Gardner, of Salt Lake City; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, Vern, Elmer, and Rollo Richins, all of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by sisters, Abbie Byrum, Zora Horsley; brothers, Joe and Aldo Richins.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 29, 1998, 2 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
