The Rev. Jesse Jackson and family members gathered around Sandi and Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., in Salt Lake City on Sunday following the death of their pre-term baby.

Sandi Jackson, 34, was admitted to University Hospital Thursday evening due to complications from her pregnancy. She and her husband were in Utah attending a conference on youth leadership in Deer Valley.A statement released by the hospital at the request of the Rev. Jackson said the baby boy was delivered Saturday evening and died a short time later. Sandi Jackson was listed in good condition but will remain in Utah for several days while recuperating.

The Rev. Jackson and sons Jonathan and Yusef flew to Salt Lake City to be with the couple. Their travel was facilitated by Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, who joined the family in a prayer circle, according to the statement.

Rep. Jackson's pastor, the Rev. James Meeks of Salem Baptist Church in Chicago, also flew to Salt Lake City.
