It's official. The city's new municipal building will be almost four times the size of the current city hall.
James Childs & Associates have completed the conceptual plan for the new Clearfield City office building, and it will be 70,900 square feet in size. The current building is only 19,000 square feet. The cost estimate for the new city building was also revised from $9.2 million to $9.4 million.
Ground was broken for the new building on July 4, just west of the current city hall. The parks and recreation office has been moved back into the current city hall so that building can be razed to make more room for the new structure.
City Manager Jack Bippes said the old recreation building will likely be leveled in early August.
