Elmer Duke Johnson, 77, died August 23, 1998, at home in Charleston, Utah.

Born January 19, 1921, in Provo, Utah, to Elmer Bengt and Florence Duke Johnson. Married Joyce Farnsworth March 12, 1963, in the Manti LDS Temple. She died March 29, 1996.He was a high priest in the LDS Church having served two missions with his wife and was a temple worker. Graduated from Wasatch High School. Served on the Charleston Town Board and Irrigation Company. Served as Scout Master and received the rank and honor of Silver Beaver. He lived all of his life in Charleston, Utah, except for serving in World War II and Korea. He worked as a farmer and rancher and as a Charleston Town employee.

Survived by children, Karen Joyce Mitchell of Provo, Jay Duke (Jolene) Johnson of Charleston, Jana Lee (Jim) Brown of Heber City; eight grandchildren; and a sister, Grace (Max) Broadhead of Charleston. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Funeral service will be Thursday, August 27, 1998, at 12 noon in the Charleston Ward Chapel. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Mortuary in Heber City and Thursday at the church, one hour prior to service. Interment, Charleston Cemetery with military honors.
