Cornelia Baker Nash Higley, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away August 20, 1998, Salt Lake City, Utah of cancer.

She was born December 9, 1916 at Scotia, New York to Robert Cary and Esther Mae Baker Nash. Cornelia moved to Salt Lake City at the age of five, where she attended Salt Lake schools, graduation from East High School in 1934. She attended Westminster College and LDS Business College. She worked for the Salt Lake City Board of Education as a machine bookkeeper prior to her marriage.She married Robert DeWitt Higley on September 26, 1939. They were blessed with three children, Roger DeWitt, Robert Nash, and Constance Ann (Connie). During their golden years, Bob and Cornelia loved to travel. They traveled around the US, parts of Canada, Australia and the South Pacific; and on cruises to Alaska, Scandinavia, and through the Panama Canal.

Cornelia was an avid collector. At one time she had over 700 dolls, many which were Santa Clauses. She also collected pewter cups and saucers, music boxes, lighthouses, teapots, African Violets, and books. She loved to read.

After her children were in their teens, she returned to work. She worked at Dairy Equipment company for two years, as church secretary and wedding coordinator at First Presbyterian Church for 14 years, and as a secretary at Westminster College until her retirement.

Cornelia was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1940; a member of Westminster College's Women's Board, Olympus Doll Club, and the Reviewer's Club. She belongs to the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter E and was past state president of P.E.O. Cornelia held various offices in all the organizations in which she was a member.

Cornelia is survived by her children: Roger of Sitka, AK; Robert (Barbara of Wet Valley City; and Connie (Jack) Bray, Bandon, OR; grandchildren: Gary (Kelly) Mattson, Logan; Tim (Teresa) Mattson, Seattle, Wash.; Steve (Lisa) Mattson, Spokane, WA; Susie (Forrest) LaBarre, Spokane, WA; and Rus Higley, Norfolk, VA; great-grandchild, Annika Mattson, Spokane, WA; nine step grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Madge Nash; niece, Claudia Nash (Richard) Ambrose; nephews Robert (Donna) Nash, William Nash, Calif; Lee (Jan) Stubblefield, Amarillo, TX; numerous great nieces and nephews, cousin Laura Burgoyne, New York; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Charles Robert Nash, he husband Bob, brother-in-law William Higley and sister-in-law, Gertrude Higley.

Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 12 "C" Street, Salt Lake City at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, 1998. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Evans & Early Funeral Directors.
