She may be in a professional slump, but Sandra Bullock is still on top in Canada. The Montreal World Film Festival has announced that the actress will receive a career excellence award at the festival on Sept. 6.
Bullock, who received lukewarm reviews this summer for "Hope Floats," was chosen because "she's quite a popular actress here," said Lorraine Jamison, a spokeswoman for the festival. "She is somebody that the people of Montreal would like to meet," Jamison added. The festival, which will also include a tribute to the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, runs from Thursday to Sept. 7.
