Former Utah State University administrator Mark Tenhoeve has been sentenced to 60 days in jail for five counts of fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs and one count of theft.
Tenhoeve, 45, was also ordered by 1st District Judge Gordon Low to enter an intensive outpatient substance abuse program in Salt Lake City after completing his jail sentence. And Low ordered him to pay a $1,100 fine and return $3,200 that was stolen from USU during his tenure as director of high school-college relations.
Tenhoeve's attorney, Herm Olsen, objected to the distant location of the rehabilitation program. Low said Adult Probation and Parole could approve another treatment program.
Tenhoeve was originally charged with 14 counts of prescription drug fraud, all third-degree felonies, but nine of the charges were dropped in a plea agreement with prosecutors. He resigned from his USU post in December amid the charges.
