Jacalyn Leavitt, wife of Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt, has been awarded the Utah Medical Association's Presidential Citation for her contribution to improving child immunization rates in Utah.
Along with the "Every Child by Two" Immunization Task Force, Jacalyn Leavitt's efforts have been "instrumental in turning around Utah's previously declining childhood immunization rates," association President Joseph Cramer said in a news release."This past year, Utah experienced one of the nation's highest percentage increases in immunization rates," Cramer said. "Thanks to Mrs. Leavitt and the `Every Child by Two' project, Utah is a healthier place to raise our children."
Jacalyn Leavitt and the task force received the award during the task force's Thursday meeting at the Governor's Mansion.
