Arnold Joseph Brough, 80, passed away August 18, 1998 at his granddaughter, Michelle Davidson's home in Nephi, Utah, of causes incident to age.
He was born July 25, 1918 in Nephi, Utah, to Ernest and Laura Giles Brough. He married Ida Bean Golden, January 20, 1947; marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. She died January 3, 1996.He was raised with two brothers, two sisters, and two step-sisters. He was affectionately known as "Arnie" or "Arn". He received his education in Nephi, Utah, and served in the military during World War II. Arn was a cattle rancher, good rider, enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved the outdoors. He was a gifted story teller with a magnetic personality. People were drawn to him with his wit and ability to make everyone feel at ease. He was the life of the party. He was kind and gentle to children and looked out for their best interests. He helped the widows in town and was concerned for their welfare. He was generous to all who needed a hand and was down on their luck. He was a friend to everyone. He enjoyed western art and did several oil paintings. He also enjoyed reading about the West and the history of Utah.
Survived by his children, James (Addie) Golden, of Highland, UT; Michael (Nellie) Golden, of Kaysville, UT; Barbara (John) Warner, of Nephi, UT; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Rulon (Arta) Brough, of Cedar City, UT; sisters, Enid (Allen) Christensen, of Nephi, UT; Madge (Van) Price, Mesa, AZ; step-sisters, Laura Lee (Wynn) Ellertson, of Mesa, AZ; Helen Brough, of Tempe, AZ.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 1998 in the Nephi Stake Center, 351 North 100 West. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North and at the church one hour prior to service. Burial in the Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi, UT.
