Lloyd Melvin Mitchell, 68, died August 17, 1998.

He was born February 11, 1930 Magna, Utah to Rhoda Carnelia Nelson and Melvin Lloyd Mitchell.He married Edna Arlene Yates July 21, 1951 in Elko, Nevada. He graduated from Cyprus High School in 1948 and attended the University of Utah. He was a member of the LDS church. Retired from K.C.C. Smelter. Past member Magna Community Council and Magna Area Council. Past officer of the United Way Oquirrh District Fund. He served proudly and honorably in the US Navy submarine service. Life member and past commander V.F.W. post 7398. He loved the outdoors and traveling.

Survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Steve (Marriann), Scott (Laurie), Susan (Bruce) Buck, Shawn, and Mike (Roseanne); nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lila (Don) Harman and Lynda (Lynn) Jenkins. Preceded in death by parents.

He will be missed by many.

Funeral service will be held Friday August 21, 1998, 11 a.m. at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, where friends may call both Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to service. Interment: Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
