First half: Utah had the lead for the first 2:21 minutes of the game, but that was it. The Starzz did come back from deficits of eight and five points to within two and one in the half's final minute.

Second half: Two Olympia Scott free throws brought the Starzz to a 45-all tie at 16:31, but the Mercury maintained a seven- to eight-point lead throughout much of the remainder of the game. Utah's guards struggled - Kim Williams was 1-for-11, Chantell Tremitiere 0-for-5 and Tammi Reiss 0-for-3, while Dena Head, Tricia Bader and Erin Alexander played less than a minute each.
