Elwood "Bud" Otto Rettig, 78, passed away August 16, 1998, in Murray, Utah, after a long illness.

Born August 19, 1919, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Otto Benjamin and Mary Uretta Ridenour Rettig.He was employed by Thom McAn Shoe Co. as division manager in the southeastern U.S. and San Juan Puerto Rico. He lived in Orlando, Florida, from 1953 to 1964. He moved to Salt Lake City in 1969 and was employed as the manager of Florshiem Shoe Store at 2nd South and Main Street. He served in the U.S. Air Corps as a gunner and was stationed for 47 months in New Guinea.

He married Irene Volk, February 1945, and later divorced. He married Dorothy Kammerath, September 10, 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Linda Shupp of Bucyrus, Ohio; Candy Chambers of Worthington, Ohio; five grandchildren, two great-grandsons; sister, Janet Mitchell of Salt Lake City; six stepchildren, Diane K. (Don) Anderson of Ivins, Utah; Janice K. (Jay) Burkinshaw of Salt Lake City, Steven A. (Karen) Kammerath of Sandy, Utah; Craig L. Kammerath of Salt Lake City, Mark J. (Deon) Kammerath of Aliso Viego, Calif.; Brian H. (RaNae) Kammerath of Sandy, Utah; 52 step grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 19, 1998, at the South Cottonwood Ward, 5600 South Vine Street. Friends may call Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
