Game 28: Friday at the Great Western Forum

Starzz 35 32 - 67

Sparks 44 43 - 87

First half: Olympia Scott started the game to play defense against Lisa Leslie. She did a reasonable job, holding her to 12 points and seven rebounds in the half. The Sparks' Eugenia Rycraw, getting her first start, in place of Pam McGee, made the Starzz pay with eight first-half points.

Second half: Leslie hit her 15th double-double with 18 points, 14 rebounds. Penny Toler had her first double-double with 11 points, 14 assists, two short of the WNBA record. Coah Frank Layden's team got within five at 59-54 on a Margo Dydek bucket, but she missed the free throw that came with it, and the Sparks took off from there.

Records: Starzz 8-20, Sparks 12-16

Quotable: "We will continue to fool around with our lineup." - Starzz coach Frank Layden, who started all-big and had all-small in near the end.

Next up: Starzz at Sacramento tonight at 8 p.m. MT.
