"Egg-citing" and "egg-stra" special events are planned during an egg cooking contest today at Tracy Aviary in Liberty Park.
During the activity from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., prizes will be given during a contest for the best-cooked egg and the most unique but workable solar stove.The egg-cooking contest (using store-bought eggs) begins at noon, giving contestants one hour to build their sun-powered cooker and to cook up edible egg delights.
Guests may will learn how to bounce eggs, blow and paint eggs and will visit special egg stations where information will be given on the chemistry and physics of eggs.
Admission to the aviary is $3 for adults and $1.50 for children ages 3 to 12 and for senior citizens. The aviary is open from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Weekday and Sunday hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
