Gov. Mike Leavitt has appointed Sara Lee Gibb to succeed Robert S. Olpin as the chairwoman of the Utah Arts Council.

Gibb is professor and chairwoman of the Brigham Young University dance department, where she holds bachelor's and master's degrees. In addition to developing the Dance Teacher Preparation Program at BYU, she is an author whose works have been disseminated throughout the United States, as well as in Finland, Australia, Argentina and Japan.Gibb is currently president of the National Dance Association; arts chairwoman of the Utah Academy of Science, Arts and Letters; and is an executive board member of the Utah Alliance for Arts and Humanities Education.

Gibb has a great love for and deep commitment to the cultural atmosphere in Utah and is dedicated to serving the artists and citizens of the state.
