Grace Meta Johnson, 83, died August 9, 1998 at Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, Nevada, following a brief illness.
A native of Salt Lake City, she was born March 25, 1915 to James Peter and Ameta Kaphgenst Nelson. She graduated from high school in Salt Lake City, June 10, 1932.On November 13, 1934, she married Cale Clarence Johnson in the Logan LDS Temple. They settled in Ely, Nevada where she lived for 43 years and raised their family. She then moved to Elko, Nevada and lived there for 12 years prior to residing in Carson City for the past year.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and an active member of the LDS Church. Her husband, Cale died November 28, 1959 and a daughter, Margery Clapton died January 12, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and one sister.
Surviving are son, James of Portland, OR.; daughter, Carma Carlson and her son, Rodney of Carson City, NV; son, Thomas of Elko, NV; sister, Edna Michels of Murray; and brother, Ted Hockett of Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 1998, 11 a.m. Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 S. 1700 East, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
