Our sweet, smiling angel, Stephanie Marie McKellar, age 15, returned to our Heavenly-Father, Tuesday, August 11, 1998, at 3:13 a.m. as the result of an auto accident, four miles south of Centerfield, Utah.
She was born November 24, 1982 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Ian G. (Jerry) and Teresa Barney McKellar.Stephanie was loved by all those who knew her and will be deeply missed. She was a very caring, loving child of God, who was given to us for such a short time, to love. She always was for the underdog. Stephanie was a very talented writer and did very well in school and was always helping the teachers with other students who needed help. She had just completed her 9th grade year at North Sevier High School and was looking forward to her Sophomore year there. Stephanie was the apple of her Grandpa McKellar's eye. No matter how much older she got, she would always sit by him and rest her head on his shoulder. Since moving to Salina two years ago, Stephanie had made many friends and loved to go fishing around Salina.
She is survived by her parents: Teresa B. and Les Slaughter, of Salina; Ian G. (Jerry) and Pamela McKellar, of Magna; five sisters and one brother: Wendi and John Kesler, of Bennion; Kayla McKellar, of West Jordan; Amy Phillips, Jenn and Dustin Robertson, all of Magna; Heather McKellar and Brandon Slaughter, both of Salina; three step-brothers and one step-sister: David and Liz Hansen, of West Valley City; Bryan and Mary Ann Hansen, of Tooele; Kenneth and Kathleen Hansen, Tina Hansen, all of Kearns; her best buddy and niece, Amanda Sampson, of West Jordan (they were joined at the hip since they were little girls growing up together); grandparents: Wilma Barney, of Salina; Ian and Norma McKellar, of Magna; Alda Slaughter, of Bennion; many nieces and nephews; her fiancee: Cabel Faatz, of Salina. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Denzel Barney and Max Slaughter; step-grandparents William and Ann Stacey; and numerous other relatives who have greeted her on the other side.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 15, 1998 at 1 p.m. in the Salina L.D.S. Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina.
