Roy J. Price, age 90 died August 7, 1998 at his home in Midvale, Utah.
He was born on December 29, 1907 in Salt Lake City, to Angus B. and Lucy Williams Price. He married his eternal companion and love of his life, Joyce Kunkel on June 29, 1936 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Roy was an active member of the LDS church. He served a mission in the Central States mainly in the Kansas City area. He taught Sunday School, worked in the Young Men's program, was a member of the Union 2nd ward bishopric, served on the East Jordan Stake High Council, Salt Lake Temple ordinance worker, was a faithful home teacher, and enjoyed being the "greeter" at sacrament meeting.Roy worked for and retired from Kennecott Copper as a locomotive engineer. He worked in his garden and received great satisfaction from sharing the fruits of his labors with family and friends. He was a patient man with a cheerful attitude who made each one of his five daughter's feel special. He showed great appreciation for everything that was done to help him. He set an example of honor, integrity, and faith and was greatly loved and admired by his family, friends and associates. He believed that a person's family is his greatest possession. He was truly rich in the love of his family.
Survivors include his daughters, Shirley (Don) Boggess, Cottonwood Heights; Julianne Nelson, Midvale; Vicki (Franc) Nichols, Oakley, UT; Robyn (Jack) McClellan, Fallbrook, CA; Paula (David) Megeath, Bluffdale; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Tanner; brothers, Melvin, Gene and Calvin Price; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; grandson, Troy Nelson; sister, Velma Casper; brothers, Bert, Earl, Glenn, and Ralph Price.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 1998, 2 p.m., Union 2nd Ward, 540 East 7200 South. Friends may call Monday 6 - 8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mort., 4760 So. State and Tuesday 1 - 1:45 pm at the church. Interment, Elysian Gardens.
